What to Wear Wednesday...with Heather Owens
It's WTWW and this week continues our Boho theme for June! We welcome Heather Owens Photography this week! Check out what she has to say about key pieces to the boho look!"If y’all know me at all, you know that my favorite location to shoot in is a backlit field. And, nothing goes better with sunshine and flowers than a good boho-inspired wardrobe. While the term “boho” can run the gamut from hippie chic to country girl, there are a few key pieces for pulling off the perfect boho look:
- Felt Hats
Nothing will take an outfit from meh to holy boho faster than a good felt hat, whether it be floppy-brimmed or something a bit more structured. Some of my favorite hat designers are Olive & Pique, Lovely Bird, and Magid Hats.
- Lace
Another staple of the boho look is lace. While lace can come off a tad country, it is perfectly boho when paired with a lot of layered jewelry for a gypsy effect. Check out Natalie B, Vanessy Mooney, and Jenny Bird for amazing layering pieces.
- Floral Patterns
A delicate floral pattern is perfect for a natural boho look. To get the most boho for your buck, consider a babydoll sundress or a fringed kimono. These kinds of pieces allow for movement in images and photograph beautifully.
- Flower Crowns
A good flower crown is the epitome of boho. To keep the look from being too peace, love, and hippies, incorporate other boho elements, like floral patterns, fringe, and lace, into your look.
- Cardigans
One last piece to have on hand for your next boho look is the open-front cardigan. As with jewelery, layering clothing pieces is very boho, and a cardigan is a perfect addition to spring and fall looks. Goddis is one of my favorite designers of boho-inspired cardigans. Mixing and matching these wardrobe pieces is the perfect recipe for a natural boho feel. Don’t be afraid to pair several together and experiment to achieve your perfect boho look. Happy shopping, y’all!!"Heather, I too love a backlit field! These images are gorgeous, as always, but I also love ALL of the suggested pieces for pulling off a boho look! The boho style is super trendy now, so it's not difficult to find pieces to pull of a fab look! Thank you for joining us!Stay Stylish!Megan
