An Ohio Senior Session

Today's featured senior session is from Elizabeth Callahan and Emily Nurrenbrock of Callahan Photography, located in Dayton, OH. Here is what Emily had to say about their session!

Describe the session for us: "We met up with Ironwood Wolves at a metropark in Columbus, Ohio. It was early spring, and things hadn’t quite yet began to bloom. This was the ideal time to photograph with a wolf, since they favor the cooler weather. We took a short hike to find out exactly where we wanted to photograph. We knew we wanted to keep the scene woodsy but also allow for the soft, natural light to peek through. We worked with a wolf (and his two handlers) named Luther. He was born in 2018 so he was just a puppy! We were amazed at how calm he was during the entire photoshoot process. He was not afraid to give a few kisses to our models, which they loved! The handlers were great and made sure that our girls were comfortable the entire time. As photographers, we have found that working with animals during a photoshoot requires patience and understanding. It was more challenging than our usual shoots and we loved it."

Tell us about the gear used: "Nikon d800 & d750. Nikon Nikkor 105mm. Natural light & silver reflectors."

What inspired the session? "We have known about Ironwood Wolves (this is their website) and their organization for a few years now. They are a USDA licensed educational facility that works with ambassador wolves and foxes. Their goal is to educate the public about wolves and what they do for the planet's ecosystem while also teaching through educational lectures and other collaborations. We were not only inspired by how beautiful and fascinating wolves are, but also by the company’s mission.

We also owe our inspiration to our Senior Models. Having our influencers allows us to create one of a kind photoshoot sets that you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the area. The Senior Model Program played a huge role in allowing us to think outside of our comfort zone and come up with something totally unique. We are thankful that our girls are willing to trust us with our ideas!"

HMUA: "Jill Campbell, FB: Facebook. Jill always does an amazing job with styling our girls!"
