What to Wear Wednesday...with Stephanie Newbold
It's WTWW and this week we have Stephanie Newbold Photography joining us!
"One question every senior client asks me is, “What should I wear?” My answer is always “Whateverlooks good on you, fits you well and represents your OWN style”. Even though Tucson is Arizona’ssecond largest metropolis, it still has a laid back, casual, college town vibe that’s reflected in my seniors’wardrobe. Today’s post is about layering using fun jackets and vests, and different fabrics and texturesto help your seniors create a pulled together look while still embracing their own unique style for theirportrait session.
Mixing different fabrics helps my seniors create a personal and stylish look. I love how Cecily layered thislong, shearling and suede vest over her floral knit dress. It adds texture and dimension while creating astylish, contemporary look. Using the vest’s neutral colors and fun collar shape over the dress keeps thelook “layery” and feminine without looking bulky and it definitely plays well with Cecily’s natural style.
With over 350 days of sunny weather per year, we tend to hold on to our summer pieces all year round, making them do double duty in the fall and winter. Layering a simple summer dress with a military stylebutton up, long sleeve shirt styles it down a bit for a more casual look.
This military style jacket and studded ankle boots add some personality for a fun, urban look. Jacqi’ssundress looks great worn with ankle boots, especially when topped with this military style jacket (oryou could even use a blazer or cardigan).
The same trick works for shorts or shorter skirts -- add a pair of patterned tights and boots and layerwith a hoodie and denim vest.
If your senior chooses to wear several layers on top, keep the bottom half of the outfit long and lean. Ilove Caitlin’s skinny jeans and tee, layered with the long crochet sweater and boots. It adds a little urbanflair to an otherwise simple look.
A denim jacket is always a great option for a fall look, and I love this hippy chic version paired withSadie’s floral dress and boots. It’s a great reflection of her style and adds some visual interest to heroutfit.
A fun option for adding a touch of denim is to swap the jacket for a denim or chambray button down. Ilove this one layered over a simple tee or tank and paired with this gold brocade mini skirt and cowgirlboots. The fabrics, textures and patterns complement each other without being overwhelming. Haley’sgold brocade skirt adds just the perfect touch of glam to the casual chambray shirt and tee.
Layering with jackets, vests, sweaters and shirts give you lots of options to help your seniors embracetheir casual style, and combining different patterns and textures gives you lots of options to add a touchof glam or a hippie chic vibe. Have fun with it and help your seniors add some chic to their casual!"
Wow Stephanie! Such a good post! These seniors all look comfortable but amazing in all of these looks. And I'm obsessing over Cecily's hair! Thanks so much for the tips and photo candy!
