What to Wear Wednesday...with Keri Hamilton
It's WTWW! Keri Hamilton Photography is joining us this week as we continue our Americana theme for the month of July!"Every year I like to do a patriotic themed shoot around the 4th of July. This year I decided to do it with my model team. I knew I wanted to do more than just incorporate a flag scarf or simply tell them to wear red, white, and blue clothing.
I love any kind of photo shoot with a vintage-type feel so I used that idea to start an inspiration board on Pinterest for the girls to use. With a location already in mind that would give us beautiful back lighting, I envisioned all of the other details. I wanted a "boho meets hippie" look and I have to say the girls nailed it.
As far as what I pinned for them, I started with basic searches of words like "boho chic" and "hippie chic" and added onto those to come up with a board full of clothing, accessories, and hair and makeup ideas. I made sure many of the pins reflected the overall feel and location of the shoot that I was going for too. Many of them were photos of vintage tees, cut off jeans, or light colored clothing with girls that had loose curls or wavy hair and simple makeup with just the right accessories.
The thing I love most about planning shoots this way is that it allows each girl to still be "her" because each of them can pull items from their closet that match the theme. This way they feel super comfortable and in turn, look amazing and carefree in the photos!"Ahhhh, Americana sessions are always some of my faves! I love the backlighting!
