What to Wear Wednesday....with Kacie Quesenberry

It's WTWW and this week we have Kacie Quesenberry of Kacie Q Photography joining us! She's going to share tips for wearing jeans--from casual to classy! And the best thing about this post? It applies to both guys and girls!!

"Imagine this, you find your senior portrait photographer and you’re giddy! Beyond giddy! You start imagining what your photos will look like! Then you race to your closet, throw open the doors, only to realize, you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. So if you are like me, you immediately venture around to stores looking for the perfect outfit, all the while searching Pinterest on your phone to make sure what you are finding and putting together is actually “in style” and not a giant fashion faux pas.

This what to wear Wednesday is brought to you by a girl who is lucky if her socks match, and can constantly be found in gym attire. But when it comes to being in front of the camera, you better believe I want to look put together!  Being born and raised in Montana, and a photographer here, we live in an area that is very casual. So casual in fact, most people wear jeans to weddings and/or in them. True story. So if you find yourself in a location where you want to keep your everyday casual self as a part of your senior pictures, here are a few tips from a jeans loving photographer, and her seniors (guys and girls), who take jeans from casual to classy in a few simple changes! Because after all, if you are not comfortable in it, do not wear it!

  1. RIP Ripped Pants: I bought a pair of jeans the other day from GAP that had a rip in the knee. An intentional rip. Because I felt cool. When my mom saw me in them, the first thing she said was, “Please don’t tell me you spent money on those.” Yes. Yes I did. And even though I love them, I would not recommend them for senior portraits. Let’s stick to cleaner jeans. No rips.

  2. #DarkJeansPlease: Dark jeans always look good. If you are picking between a lighter pair and a darker pair, go with the darker. Plain and simple.

  3. Shoes! Shoes will change the look of jeans completely. Flats, to boots, to wedges to even Converse. Shoes will give your jeans a totally different look. So bring options when it comes to shoes! I have had seniors bring one pair of jeans and 5 different pairs of shoes for their shoot, all giving that one pair of jeans a totally different look.

  4. Tops and Layers:Whatever tops you choose will help give your jeans a little more of a complete look. Solid colors, patterns, layers and/or accessories will dress up your jeans, or give them a more casual comfortable feel. Even adding boot leggings will dress up your overall look!

  5. Bottom line: Bring options! You can always add to or take away to give your casual jeans a classy look or vise versa!"

Senior Style GuideI love these tips! AND that they apply to both guys and girls! One pair of jeans can sport SO MANY different looks! Thanks so much for this post, Kacie!
