What to Wear Wednesday...with Amie Reinholz
It's WTWW and this week we have Amie Reinholz Photography joining us to share all about jewelry!
"When it comes to your senior portraits everyone seems to always forget about the accessories, mainly jewelry. It’s a great way to add a little sparkle and flair to your outfit. My biggest rule when it comes to jewelry is to keep it simple! Here in Texas everyone likes to go by the old, “bigger is better” rule and I have to disagree when it comes to your jewelry for portraits. It’s okay to wear jewelry that matches your outfit, but you don’t want it steal the show! Speaking of matching; don’t be afraid to mix things up. I LOVE mixing my metals and layering necklaces! That’s just one more way to show off your personality!
If you are changing outfits during your senior portrait session, then you should also be changing your jewelry! I always suggest hanging the coordinating jewelry with each outfit on the hanger or put it in a zip lock back and label it “red outfit” or “gold outfit”, so when it’s time to change it is all together and easily found.
Now, let’s talk what type of jewelry to consider for your senior shoot. Necklaces are some of my favorite pieces as they can help dress up jeans and a t-shirt or you can grab a more statement piece to go with a formal gown or dress. If I had to pick one jewelry item for my senior to wear, hands down it would be earrings. I love how they peek out of your hair and to me; help frame your face if they are longer or dangly earrings. I also love a pretty stud earring if you have your hair pulled back to add a little sparkle, but it doesn’t overtake your face. While, I do love a good bracelet or a pretty ring, I don’t think they are necessary and if they are too gaudy or too big, they might actually take away from your outfit. Like I said earlier: “Keep it simple!”
Some of my favorite places to shop for jewelry that also isn’t super expensive: Forever 21, Charming Charlies, and Sam Moon. "
I am loving all of these photos, Amie! I feel like accessories are the icing on the cake when it comes to wardrobe and it's so important not to forget them. I agree that bigger isn't always better. Thanks so much for the tips!
