Style Guide to Summer Festival Looks

Lacey M. Carroll here again to give some insight into what looks are heating up as the summer music festivals kick into full swing. Let's remember what and who your teens and seniors are following on Instagram, from the Jenner's to the Hadid's and influencers galore, every single one of those social media darlings will be at a summer festival cashing in on all the Instagram worthy selfies they provide. Coachella, the biggest fashion inspired festival just kicked off festival season, and there are still DOZENS of huge gatherings to come. From Bonnaroo in June to Lollapalooza in August there are festivals happening in nearly every major city in the world and these are the looks influencers will be wearing and your teens will be drooling over.

Vertical Stripes are not only flattering, they are trending. Vertical patterns elongate the body and have a slimming effect... who wouldn't want that? So, from a personal perspective AND a business perspective I'm super happy to see them trending. If you have a daring client try out multi-colored stripes like these Urban Outfitter Capri's or this butterfly striped jumpsuit dress from Zara. If you still want to stay on trend but want to avoid too many colors check out this adorable black & white top from H&M or this blue & white tie front from Lulu's I've been swooning over!

White... it's the easiest color to style and shoot. It's cute, goes with everything and most of our clients love it! I want you to think back to 2014-2015. If you were shooting back then, how many white lace dresses did you photograph? Me? Probably 1/3 (if not more) of my clientele wore a white lace dress for their senior photos. It was cute, it was trending EVERYWHERE on Pinterest and paired with a jean jacket and cowgirl boots... GOLD! From maxis to A-lines I'm not afraid to admit I loved it, and in fact, it's a look I had in my client guide until 2017! But, it's time to retire the classic and make way for a new silhouette with this often used and beloved color. Is wearing all white practical at a festival? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But influencers everywhere snapped shots of themselves poolside in Coachella Valley (undoubtedly changing immediately afterward) with white pant-suits, in swimwear, and blouses with high-waisted shorts. If you plan to style a shoot in white, remember to keep it interesting. Take a look at Class of 2019 Senior Natalee in this 'updated version' of 'The White Dress', I picked up this beauty in Brooklyn at an adorable little boutique in February and it's become a quick favorite among my clientele!

I cannot mention festival looks without talking about BOHO! Boho and Festivals are intertwined. Boho short for bohemian is a collection of looks, often layered and accessorized to the nth degree. Sunglasses, tassels, stripes, ruffles, leather, patterns... you name it, you wear it! Looking for fabulous accessories?
