Loving Our Selfies- One Foot in Front of the Other

It's the time of year I start to FREAK OUT clients won't book. I do this every year. Anyone else with me? After moving twice in the last four years, it's challenging to build business up enough to have confidence my schedule will not only fill up, but clients will be knocking down my door to shoot with me (a gal can dream, can't she?).One reason my confidence is a smidge higher than in previous years are the amount of inquiries I've received...and then it all comes crashing down when some of those said inquiries tell me they are going somewhere else. Uuuuuuugh. Part of me wants to whine and cry and throw things across my office because I know I can give them such an amazing experience besides beautiful portraits. The ridiculous part of me wants to mimic my sassy 3-year-old, stick my tongue out at them and call them "boo boo butts", but I don't' feel like sitting in time out, I'm not ACTUALLY that immature, and I'm pretty sure that would not be good for biz.one foot in front of the other 2What I will do, though, is keep putting one foot in front of the other. I will keep on pushing how awesome my company and my senior photography adventure is. I will remember that last year, most clients didn't book until later in the season than I anticipated and I did (mostly) fill up my calendar. I will try reeeeeeaaaaallllly hard not to tie my value as a woman and self-confidence to the number of teenagers I get to work with. Notice how I said, TRY? We all know it's easier said than done. I will find ways to connect with potential clients, perhaps using Instagram ads or maybe finaaaaallllly hopping on Snapchat for real instead of just leaving the app unused on my phone. And I will chug a crap ton of coffee while doing all the above because my sweet little 4-month-old thinks sleep is for sissies. No matter what, I am going to have faith in my abilities, no matter how full my calendar is, and I am going to believe that if I envision it and put it out in the Universe, the Photography Gods shall smile upon me and send me the right clients. Here's to hoping. And here's to you all not only filling up your calendars, but making a positive difference in the lives of your kids.
