Featured Senior Session | Sarah Jane Photography
Happy May 1st! Today's featured senior session is from Sarah Shorthose of Sarah Jane Photography located in Oreana, IL. Here is what Sarah had to say about her session.
Please describe the session: “Despite a lot of wind we had a beautiful session with Titilayo (Layo). She's the youngest of five and I've had the privilege to photograph two of her older siblings senior portraits. We started our time with a more urban location near downtown Decatur, IL (outside an abandoned warehouse and in parking lot and alleys surrounding the local feed store). It's a location with stellar ivy and a variety of textures/colors. And we ended the location at the family's home. We've included their own land, lake and barn at each of our sessions over the years and it's always fun to find new ways to use the same spaces to create something that coordinates but isn't the same as everything we've done before.”
Tell us about the gear used: “This session was photographed on a Canon R6. Mostly with RF 28-70mm 2.0 lens (and some 70-200mm 2.8). Due to the high winds, downtown images were lit with the Godox V1 Flash (barebulb) before we switched back to our Phottix Indra500 with Godox 36" Softbox.”
What inspired this session? “Layo's fashion and style really lead the way on this session. She actually added the heart back pockets on her jeans and I think it really kicks them up a notch. Having photographed her siblings and family before it was also really important to all of us to make sure to showcase her in a way that was unique and let her personality shine while also coordinating with the style of our past sessions and utilizing their personal location.”
Hair and Makeup Artist: “Layo's did her own hair and makeup (flawlessly) for her session.”
