Eye on Fashion: A Teen's Perspective \\ Old Hollywood Style

Old-time Hollywood stars continually inspire and influence modern-day fashion, and not just on the red carpet- I personally have walked through the hallways of my high school and noticed many styles subtly inspired by classic film stars and movies. And why not? These looks are timeless and make you look like nothing short of a movie star. Here are some examples of modern outfits inspired by the famous film stars of years past: Audrey Hepburn: you simply can’t write about Hollywood inspired style without including this “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” star. Audrey is famous for her little-black-dress-and-pearls ensembles that she wore as Holly Golightly in the film. For a classic look that mimics Audrey’s style, go for simple black dresses(the one pictured is only $30 at Forever 21!), pink lipstick, big round sunglasses, and lots of pearls! Other outfit pieces include black cigarette pants, neck scarves, and big floppy hats.senior style guide eye on fashion teen fashion              Marilyn Monroe: Marilyn’s white dress is nothing short of iconic. A simple but girly short white dress and wedges, together with curled hair and lots of RED as an accent color, make for a perfect Marilyn-inspired ensemble.senior style guide eye on fashion teen fashion                   Elizabeth Taylor: Elizabeth is best known for her role as the iconic Egyptian queen, Cleopatra. During the film she sported a great deal of eye make-up, gorgeous flowing dresses, and a crazy amount of jewelry. Though dressing up in full Egyptian-royalty attire isn’t exactly in style nowadays, Egyptian-styled jewelry is becoming widely popular with teens and young adults.
