Eye on Fashion: A Teen's Perspective// Headbands

This weekend I was an assistant at a bohemian-styled photoshoot and couldn’t help but notice an accessory that I had yet to write about: yep, headbands. We all remember the days of wearing pinky and green sparkly headbands to school when we were younger, but, due to the bohemian-look that become popular nowadays, headbands are now for grown-ups as well. Headbands can make an outfit look ten times more put together an trendy when worn the right way. Here are a couple options to get you started:

  1. The Faux Braid headband: These are the headbands that are made to look a thin braid of your own hair(a lifesaver for anyone who can’t braid their own hair very well *me*). The wonderful thing about these headbands is that you can either wear them casually, or even to a formal setting such as prom. Just make sure to find one that matches your hair color and set it back from your hairline to make it appear as natural as possible(unfortunately, these are not ones that you wear across the top of your forehead, like most bohemian-styled headbandsScreen Shot 2014-01-19 at 9.58.30 PM).

  1. Flower headbands: These are VERY popular in senior shoots nowadays. With regards to photoshoots, sometimes the bigger the flowers are, the better. However, if you want to wear a floral headband with a normal outfit, I’d suggest buying one with small flowers so as not to make the outfit too costume-y.
