Eye on Fashion: A Teen's Perspective // Fall Basics

Hi all! My apologies for being absent for the past few weeks~ I’ve been incredibly busy. But I’m back now and and ready with all sorts of ideas for fall fashion! Autumn is upon us! And with it, the much-anticipated time of the year full of warm cups of apple cider, golden leaves, and brisk walks in hazy autumn twilight. The entire world seems to change, and therefore it’s only natural that your wardrobe should too! Of course, theres no need to run out and buy an entirely new closet full of things: there are a few basic fall items of clothing that should adequately prepare you for the season:

  1. Scarves: Yes, we all know that scarves are a basic fall-fashion item. But what ones should you buy? Infinity scarves, loosely knit scarves, and lacey scarves are all very in fashion nowadays.

  1. leggings/tights: Want to still look girly and cute, but the thought of freezing away in bare legs isn’t very appealing? Throw on a pair of leggings or tights. The trick here is striking the perfect balance between cute and warm. If you can getting away with just wearing the thin lacey tights, those are VERY in style now. If the weather is simply too cold, try some brightly colors of patterned thick leggings- if you’re going to wear then, you may as well stand out.
  2. beanies/hats: Beanies are a lovely way to keep yourself warm and add an extra little “something” to your outfit. Try to stay away from beanies that are too stiff, as they’ll awkwardly stick out from your head. My suggestion is to buy one in a neutral color, such a black or dark grey, so you can wear it with just about any outfit when it begins to get chilly outside!

As an ending note: Layer, layer, LAYER. The more pieces to your outfit, the warmer you’ll be and more put-together you’ll look. Screen Shot 2013-10-27 at 9.02.13 PM
