Eye on Fashion: A Teen's Perspective // Embellishments

If you’re a junior or senior girl in high school, chances are Prom is beginning to cross your mind. As a junior, it seems as if not a day goes by without a friend of mine showing me her most recent ideas for prom dresses and color schemes. No doubt if you’ve spent any amount of time looking at prom dresses online or on social media, you’ve noticed the incredibly popular trend of rhinestones and embellishments on dresses.However, in the past year or so these embellishments are not just for prom- embellished accessories in street-fashion is very much on the rise. I recently walked into a boutique and saw about half a dozen killer pairs of spiked and bedazzled high heels, along with a great deal of embellished collars and shoulders. The trick is to make sure the embellishments stand out: the rest of your outfit should be solid colors(blacks are always good), and to wear them with CONFIDENCE.
