Eye on Fashion: A Teen's Perspective // A Little Help from Hepburn….
Today, May fourth, happens to be a very important day in the history of both fashion and film- if you saw Google’s icon for the day you may have guessed it-- today is Audrey Hepburn’s birthday. Audrey Hepburn is easily one of the most iconic stars of all time, and her style aesthetic has been mimicked for generations. In her honor, I’ve compiled a few modern takes on Audrey’s style. Audrey was the first one to popularize the LBD- little black dress, which is now known as a fashion staple every girl should have in her closet. Audrey’s dress picks tended to be very modest and tight at the waist, accentuating her tiny figure. Gold jewelry was another favorite of hers- I’d recommend gold studs and a bangle for a classy, vintage look. Hepburn’s outfits were actually quite simple: black cigarette pants, white button ups, and simple shoes(usually flats). Though simple, these clothes always fit very well and maintained a certain elegance to them, causing her outfits to be stylish even when casual. Plain black and white, well fitting outfits with a splash of color would be a great modern way to show off Audrey’s style. As far as accessories, you can never have too many large sunglasses, pearls, or scarves. And remember, simplicity is key.
