An Miami Senior Session

Today's featured senior session comes to you from Barb Hogan Contemporary Photography, located in Cincinnati, Ohio!

Barb shared about this session: "I don't normally get a chance to do "get away" sessions, but in this case with Mason, we had the opportunity to shoot her senior photos in historic South Beach in Miami.Mason has a very "retro", almost pin-up girl kind of look, so it was a perfect match. The conditions were not ideal that day. It was close to 100 degrees, humid, and the sun was blazing at mid afternoon. I was a bit hot under the collar, but Mason kept her cool and really rocked the session. I feel that the art deco architecture of South Beach really complimented her style and personality. It was such fun, and both she and I were thrilled with the results!"

Gear: "Canon 5D Mark III, 70-200mm 2.8L USM, 8-15L 3.5L fisheye, 24-70mm 2.8L, 580ex Speedlight."

Inspiration: "Mason has a very retro look to her personal style and loves vintage clothing and hair. Taking her photos in South Beach was the perfect background for her classic retro-but-modern style."

Hair & MUA: "She does all her own hair and makeup! I'm hoping that she'll assist me with next year's seniors, doing their make up for their sessions."

Barb shared about herself: "I have been in business for a little over five years now. I am self taught, learning everything I could while living in London in the 90's.My assistant Colin is away at college right now but helps me when he can and he's really helped me master the art of off camera flash. I shoot mainly portraits, but also do a bit of special event and commercial photography. I volunteer my photography services for the Magic Hour Foundation and the Dragonfly Foundation, both which give support to cancer patients and their families. It's my way of sharing my craft to help others.I am fortunate to have been selected as the Kelby Photowalk winner for Cincinnati in 2012, and this past fall I had a photo featured in National Geographic. That is a photographer's dream! My work has also been featured in the Cincinnati Enquirer and other local publications. In addition to photography, I am a graphic artist, a published scrapbooker, a painter, and a jock when I'm not busy being mom to a beautiful and creative daughter, wife to an avid golfer, and pet mom to two cute Westies, a cat, three birds, and other assorted creatures."
