A Wisconsin Senior Session

Today's featured senior session comes to you from Tara Draper Photography, located in Wisconsin!

Tara shared about this session with us: "I usually do pre-consults with all of my seniors to get an idea of their style and vibe that they are going for, but Mary's session was scheduled later in the season and we didn't have time to meet beforehand. When she arrived at my studio to have her hair and make-up done, I was so excited! She brought the cutest outfits, and TONS of accessories, which I love playing around with, and how little things such as a headband or a beautiful necklace can add such a special touch to a photo and make it truly unique. I hung up each outfit and thought of the best locations that would pull the look all together. I loved the 'desert feel" of the first set, with the sandstone cliffs in the background. Here in Wisconsin, we are so far from anything close to a desert, but you would never be able to tell in the photos.I like to shoot about 1.5 hrs. before sunset, and we had perfect conditions for Mary's photos:)"

Inspiration: "Mary has dreams to model in the future, and it was so awesome to let her move and interact with the camera, without as much direction that I normally give my seniors. She had adorable outfits, and super cute accessories, and we had a great time going to several locations. She is just such a natural in front of the camera."

Gear: "I'm a Nikon gal! I use the D700 and shot most of the session with my favorite - the 70-200 2.8, and a 50: 1.8 lens. I ALWAYS bring reflectors with and use them for any shot that is close up."

Tara shared about her business: "I started my photography business in 2011, and specialize in weddings, families and seniors. I absolutely LOVE photographing senior girls because it lets me be super creative and incorporate fashion into all of my shoots. Including professional hair and make-up artist for all of my senior packages had made such a huge difference in the overall look and feel of my senior photography. It's so much fun to help the girls pick out each outfit with the perfect accessories, and create something amazing that they can look back on several years from now and smile about."
