A Virginia Senior Session

Today's featured senior session comes to you from Ali Johnson Photography, located in Charlottesville, VA!

"I have been looking forward to taking Charlie’s senior portraits for months! He’s a senior at Fluvanna County High School and has such a fun outgoing personality! He wanted an urban feel to his senior portraits and suggested we head to Carytown in Richmond, Virginia. I'd never shot there before so I jumped at the chance!We spent the first part of the session wandering around Carytown, looking for interesting backgrounds. There were so many great spots! It was a gorgeous Saturday, the first real day that felt like fall so the place was pretty crowded. We decided to head over to Canal Street, and this location was even better than the first! I could not believe how much cool artwork there was painted on the walls!Another first, was the awesome outfits Charlie brought for his senior portraits! The cat shirt and sweatshirt and the hashtag sweater were all so awesome! The only negative of the day was that I didn’t have enough time to photograph all of his amazing outfits!"

Gear: "I used I used my Canon 5D Mark III and my 85 mm 1.2 for all of the photos. I used natural light and a reflector for the first half of the session. It was too crowded to even consider maneuvering a light stand around! For the second half of the session, I used my Einstein 640 with a softbox and a reflector for fill."
