A Texas Senior Session FULL of Grace!
Today's featured senior session comes to you from 2A Photography, located in Magnolia, Texas.
I must say, this session BLEW me away! I just couldn't wait to blog it! These images not only speak to the elegance and grace of the dancer, but also to the creative skills of the photographer...simply stunning job! I LOVE them all!
Here is what they had to say about this session:
"This is Laura, a Senior at Concordia Lutheran High School. Laura is a dancer and moves with such grace and ease--even when she's not dancing. She radiates. When Laura and her mom and I were talking and collaborating to plan her session, the main thing that it seemed we all wanted was to create unexpected dance images, but for them to be classic. Hmmm. One recurring theme was dancing where you wouldn't expect it, and you'll see Laura wore her toe shoes through most all of her wardrobe changes. We wanted a few to be more soft and traditional, and you can see those in the early shots at the gazebo in the museum district in Tomball. But we also moved to the barn and log cabin for more textural interest. Another example of that juxtaposition is in the shots in traditional dance wear in downtown Tomball. I love the brick and concrete and old doors right next to the softness and romance of Laura's leotard and toe shoes. We were having so much fun that I shot later than I normally would--quite a bit after sunset--for the shots where she is laying down. Thank you, high ISOs! The next morning we met for sunrise at my home studio to shoot on the lake and at the dock. The temperature was in the low 40s, which is freezing for Texas girls! Especially when the plan involved taking Laura out to an underwater platform (did I mention that my husband loves me and my clients trust me?!!) to dance on the water. Laura was literally in the middle of the lake, so we had to communicate about posing and shots before she went out. I used off-camera flash for this series of images. (By the way, Nichole Van is the BEST instructor ever! I couldn't recommend her workshops more highly!) Finally, the blue sofa images were taken right after sunrise--after Laura had a chance to let her frozen feet thaw just a bit!
I love this session because Laura is such a beautiful model, inside and out. We truly just played. I had so much fun pinning images of dance moves onto our Pinterest planning board (because I didn't know the names of the positions to communicate!), playing with light, and just capturing Laura's natural beauty and grace. You'll see that her wardrobe was very simple. In fact, the traditional blush pink and black are recurrent in all of her changes. Both dresses are from Charlotte Russe. One the water, she is wearing a dance dress from a recent competition. Laura did her own hair and makeup."
