A Montana Senior Session

Today's featured senior session comes to you from Caroline Madsen Photography, located in Great Falls, Montana.

Caroline shared about this session with us: "This is a genuine Montana country girl senior session. Susanne lives on a beautiful farm about 50 miles outside of Great Falls, Montana. My hair and makeup artist Beth and I drove out to shoot her session on this beautiful property where she grew up. It was refreshing to work with such a sweet senior girl."

Gear: "I shot this session with the Canon 5D Mark III, the 35mm 1.4, and the 85mm 1.8. The only prop we used was Susanne's fiddle! You don't need much in the beautiful "Big Sky Country" of Montana!"

Inspiration: "Susanne is the real deal. She grew up on a farm, plays fiddle and sometimes even drives a tractor. She is a sweet, easy going country girl and we wanted to show not only the amazing area where she has grew up but her fun-loving, playful personality as well."

What a fun senior! She just beams with personality! I absolutely love her dress...and that she plays the fiddle! I love the overhead smile shot. Thanks so much for sharing this session with us!!

When asked about herself and her business, Caroline said "My name is Caroline Madsen and I am a mostly self taught natural light photographer working in and around the city of Great Falls, Montana. My great love and passion is high school SENIOR photography but I also to shoot families, engagements, children and newborns on occasion.! I have loved photography since I was a teenager growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 80's, plastering fashion spreads from W Magazine all over my bedroom walls. I went on to work in the fashion industry in Milan, Italy for several years and then lived in Paris, France before coming to visit my sister in Montana where I met my husband Bruce and settled down to start a family! Only after I had children of my own in the mid 90's did I start to take photography more seriously. I decided to pursue my passion a few years ago by taking an online photography course, mentoring with a (then) local photographer friend Ali Brown, and then mentoring with Andee Tate of Crave Photography. I went on to attend a Julie Paisley Photography Workshop to learn the in's and out's of the overall business.CMP officially opened in July of 2011 and it has been a wonderful adventure. I am honored to have images published in 4 separate issues of Bella Magazine Australia (a teen girls magazine for ages 13-17), on the cover of a book, in the print magazine "Senior Style Guide", and as a featured photographer in the August 2012 "Family" Issue of Mozi Magazine. I have had the honor of being a featured photographer on the Blog "Lemonade and Lenses" and my images have been shared by the facebook photography pages of "Rock The Shot", "Confessions Of A Prop Junkie", "Evoking You", "Beyond The Wanderlust", and "Love Photographs Beautifully".I love to play tennis, travel and watch my two teenagers Owen and Emma play sports. We have 2 black labs and a fluffy Manx cat that all insist on joining me in my office every time I edit! Big Sky Country is an amazing place to live, shoot and enjoy the outdoors!"
