A Kentucky Senior Session
Today's featured senior session comes to you from Carrie Wilson Photography, located in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.
Here is what they had to say about this session:
"My style is a mix of vintage and urban, and since the majority of what I shoot is outdoors, location plays a major role in the overall outcome of the imagery I create. It always amazes me how a phenomenal location can sometimes be hidden right in plain view. It can be a place I've overlooked.... or even a place I have seen but not really looked at or gave a good amount of consideration.
This particular session was carefully planned from start to finish with four beautiful locations that I had scouted the day before and then within minutes of the session, I scrapped the whole plan. I was sitting in my car waiting for the girls to arrive and across the street I spotted an old abandoned store that had been out of business for many years. I had passed the location a million times in the last year (It's literally a mile and a half from my house) and had been there countless times as a child when the store was still open, but I had never thought to photograph here. There was an old loading dock, concrete block, rusted doors, peeling paint. A realtors nightmare and a photographers dream! The whole session suddenly played out in my mind like a movie. In that moment I realized that I was seeing with my imagination and not with my eyes. I was looking at the location and not seeing it for what is was, but what it could be.
"you cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus." - Mark Twain
I thought we would jut stay a few minutes and move to another location but we ended up shooting the entire session at the old store."
