Today’s featured senior session comes to you from Sodabee Photography, located in Salt Lake City, Utah!
“Downtown Salt Lake has so many hidden gems and if you know how to look for them, you can find magic. The exact same artist that did the cover for The Beatles St Pepper’s album, Jann Haworth, also created a mural in downtown Salt Lake called the SLC Pepper mural! We started there, with her black crop top and pants perfectly popping her off of the colorful and busy wall. The added wind in her tousled hair was an added bonus. From there, we made our way to the used record store Gray Whale, a favorite hangout for Lauren. Being a music buff myself, we had a great time looking through albums and playing around the walls and walls of interesting covers. After jamming out to some music and having her introduce me to some of her new favorite obscure bands, we made our way outside just at the end of the golden hour. Lauren slipped her grunge-inspired flannel around her waist and she played air guitar and rocked those final minutes.”
Gear: “I used my Canon 6d, 50mm f/1.4 and 24-70mm f/2.8”
Inspiration: “Lauren is unlike any senior I’ve known. She dances to the beat of her own drum… literally! In her questionnaire, to my question “What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday” she replied with “Checking out music at Gray Whale and listening to vinyl on a vintage record player”. Right then and there I knew we had to do the session at this location that has seen so many hours of her senior year. It was perfectly tailored to Lauren and who she is at this exact moment in time. To tie into her love of music, we spent some time nearby at the SLC Pepper mural, paying homage to the greatest rock band in history. I was inspired by Lauren’s lack of fear. She was up for anything and everything and could give me every emotion, uninhibited by the camera like many can be. We wanted an indie rocker chick vibe and we definitely got it!”
This session is SO cool! I love her hair, LOVE the image of her in the hat, and it looks like yall had tons of fun!! Thanks so much for sharing these with us!
